Convenient living with Smart Home systems

A household, where many different components and devices are linked to each other that can be operated centrally, for example with a smartphone app is called a Smart Home. Such systems are versatile and can be used in almost every part of our life.

The most important cases of usage for Smart Home are:

1. Security (alarm systems, cameras, controlling mechanisms like opening door locks with the smartphone).

2. Convenience and making living accessible (electronic devices, lights, automated doors and garage doors)

3. Energy (heating, air conditioning)

From controlling kitchen devices and lights to automated and safe controlling of doors and garage doors all solutions have one thing in common: they should make the everyday life more convenient and help to make your life at home safe, barrier-free and age-based. Garage-door and door provider Hörmann has developed an own Smart Home technology for that. This intelligent connection is based on the especially secure radio system BiSecur. It has been developed together with experts from the Ruhr-University Bochum and is equipped with a highly complex encryption algorithm, that is used in a similar way for online banking systems as well.

Security should be the top priority in smart homes. With the radio system all Hörmann drives and radio receivers can be controlled with a remote control or other equipment. Via the optionally available BiSecur Gateway, that can be connected with the internet or home network, it is also possible to control different components like doors, garage doors or lights from everywhere, worldwide just with the app on your tablet or smartphone. The communication is possible in two directions: that means that it is not only executed but the current state is also displayed. So you can check on one view if everything is securely locked.

Use Smart Home for the entrance doors

With the drive ECturn and an automated lock you can open and close Hörmann entry doors ThermoSafe and ThermoCarbon automatically which offers more comfort and makes them barrier-free.

As soon as the door closes it locks automatically. The function "permanently open" allows the door to be pushed open during the activation without a key from outside. If your children are playing outside they will not need a key to get into the house again. The function can be deactivated easily when everyone is inside again. With the BiSecur app it is also possible to control and operate the door when you are on holiday for example to let your neighbor in to look after your flowers.

Opening and closing of the garage door at any time and also remotely

Also the garage door can be operated with the smartphone or by using a remote control which is really convenient. Imagine when it is bad weather outside with wind and rain, you would have to get out of the car to open and close the garage door manually. Operating the garage door by using the smartphone is a safe, modern and especially convenient solution. It does not matter if at home, during your vacation or during traveling by train - thanks to the Hörmann BiSecur App you can check, whether the garage door is still open or already closed as it should be. If required one simple touch of a button is enough to close the door.

Barrier-free and age-based living thanks to automated internal doors

By using automated internal doors also the living part of a house can be especially convenient, age-based and barrier-free. The internal door drive PortaMatic enables a convenient and barrier-free home, that makes the everyday life easier not only for mobility-impaired people. The door opener contains integrated LED lighting and can trigger an acoustic signal, that shows that the door is moving. The operation is done using a control panel that is fixed on the wall, a radio remote control or also via the BiSecur App on your smartphone.

Smart controlling of electronic devices by using radio systems

Even electronic devices like lights or the iron can be connected to the Hörmann BiSecur Smart-Home-System by using a plugged-in receiver. Therefore those devices can also be controlled and checked from home or remotely. For example like that you can be sure if the iron is really turned off. Those plugged in receivers, like the other BiSecur devices, are connected to a radio system and can therefore not only be controlled by using the smartphone but also via a radio transmitter. The radio transmitter can control up to four different receivers and can therefore also be used for the garage door, the entry door and internal doors.
